Let SleepinBabies...Sleep

Okay, it's been long enough!

I've waited as long as I can!

Enough time has passed!

It's time to Spit It Out!

So, Here it is!

BRAGGIN TIME!

It was hard to let 'Sleepin Baby' Sleep! What an opportunity for SomeSleepyTime Photos!

If your baby is...beautiful and perfect, never cries or fusses, sleeps on schedule and burps on demand, an angel all the time, then you are the Nana!

Look, I have Two Beautiful and Perfect Grandsons! Jackson and Mason!

And I think I'd better QuitBraggin before
Jackson starts this >>>>>>>>>
and makes me

'EatCrowSoyFormula'.

I'm thinkin that this Bit of BlogBabyBraggin is not really enough exposure, so I'm going to
ShowTheWeb These Really Cute
SleepinBaby Photos of my Grandsons.

You be the Judge.
THESE or MINE

PS...It's Okay if you can't decide! Those 'SleepinBabies' are adorable, TOO!

KnittingWorkout with Scarlet & SockWizzardess!

His and Her Nests. Do they exist at your house? They do at SuKnitWitty's, but not close enough together to play KnittingFootsie!
Speaking of Footsie Knitting...it's been six months since I took
Susan-B's Sock Knitting Class and
I'm now the epitome of Scarlet O'Hara's "I'll worry about that tomorrow".
Fore Gone With The Wind are my pretty purple sock...
yep, it's still one and it's still not done.

In the meantime the
SockWizzardess is on number
KaBillionth pair...
so that adds up to
TwoKaBillion Socks...
but whose counting!

I guess I'm In the 'Working Out To Knit Mode'!!!

I've worked up a Sweat lifting baskets of yarn
from one shelf and putting them on a higher shelf.
Re-arranged the Nest...moved the chair,
the ottoman, the side table the baskets then
moved them all back where they were.
Walked a couple of miles between
the studio and the nest
with a dozen WIP's and knitted a row or two...really fast.
Soon, I will be a
'Lean, Mean Knitting Machine'

I don't want anyone to think I've been 'Slackin On KnittinThinkin'.
I eat, sleep, dream and read Knitting!
That's part of the Workout Mode, and I get lots of help from outside sources like Judith at the Wool N Cotton Shop with the latest
'Special Issue of Interweave Knits'.
Knits you can do in a weekend....for me many long weekends.
But, I was sold on this issue as soon as I saw the little boy sweater on the cover.
OMGosh! There's my Grandson Jackson on the cover.
He was two weeks old today.
I'm going to make that sweater in Vanna's Baby Yarn in blue and yellow.
I may start it tomorrow, cast on for 18 mo - 2yrs., knit really fast and have it done by December...
2010.

Fall and BasketBall...Thankful...For!!!

Remember when your English Teacher assigned the Essay Writing Titled
"The Things I Am Most Thankful For"
(even Teachers in Texas ended in prepositions)
I know, I'm a little early for ThanksGiving, but the Texas Fall Weather seems to be upon us, and I'm soooooo...
#1. Thankful for the Hot Summer to be gone.

In my 'Thankful Essay' assigned by my Basketball Coach/English Teacher,
the weather would not have been at the top the list.
He would have had a 'hoot' at that.
More than likely my essay would have been a list
with proper spellin and grammar,
Things I Am Thankful For

1. My Mama and Daddy.....I suffered from 'FCS'....FirstChild Syndrome
2. Being Taller than my TeamMates....Not so good when it came to Boys.
3. My Basketball Coach..BrownNosin..altho, I did think he was the greatest.
4. My Best Friend Nancy...Standing next to me...She would pass me the ball
when #4 would not for Nothin. (See more of #4 and me in 1963....Here)
5. My Homemaking Teacher Mrs. Browning...She taught me to Crochet and Knit

And that brings us Full Circle from the 1960's to
2009 Things I Am Thankful For.
#2. I'm Thankful for my Friend and Knitting Teacher Susan-B
I'm learning so many neat Knitting Stitches and Techniques from her....like the Diamond Lacy Scarf I'm Test Knitting for her October Classes at the
Wool N Cotton Shop.
Susan has designed Five Scarf Patterns for the classes,
and fellow Wednesday Trio'er Gina is a Tester, too...
or should that be Tester two...nope,
I think, too is gramatically correct.
Did you notice the Two Beautiful Journals in the picture with my
WIP LaceScarf?
They are gifts from Susan, and I'm sure she is expecting some
KnitTestNotes to be recorded.
But I just can't bring myself to mess them up by writing in them with my
Texas Spellin and Grammar skills.
Maybe, I will pretend to be writing an Essay for Coach Moore.
That'll shape up the Spelling and Grammar.

PS...Susan, Here's my first entry in the Butterfly Journal.
Rowe 1: K1,P1,K1,P1,K5,P2,K2tog,K1,YO,K1,YO,K1,SKPO,P2,K5,Pl,K1,P1,K1.

PPS...Sue, Nice job on this writing. Grammar=A+, Spelling=B+...
you mis-spelled ROWE.
In this context it is ROW. Coach Moore

Bubba's...Better In Texas!!!

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion, that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be out-done by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, in California an archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, headlines in the LA Times newspaper read:
'California archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.

One week later, a local newspaper in Texas , reported the following:
After digging as deep as 30 feet in his pasture near Cut-n-Shoot, Montgomery County, Texas, Bubba Rathbone, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing.

Bubba has therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Texas had already gone wireless.

Speaking of Bubbas. Here's BabyBubba with his BigBubba and HiTekie Daddy.

Happy OneWeek Birthday, BabyBubba!!!!
NanaKnitWitty's 'RockTheWeb' Baby Picture...'In Daddy's Hands'.

Pink Saturday!!!!!!

"GET PINK...It's Not Just a Color...It's an ATTITUDE!"

So last Saturday I 'GOT A PINK ATTITUDE' and joined 166 other bloggers for
PINK SATURDAY...not as SKW, but as CollectInTexas Gal.

My Pink Topic had to do with the Pink Sewing Carousel on the Pink List and in the picture above.
But, that's not the most AmazingThing about Pink Saturday.

I had 54 Comments...Yes, I said 54.

I felt like 1/4 of a Yarn Harlot...knitters know what I mean.

Anyway here's the link to my First Pink Saturday. Go See...don't worry about commenting, my head is already bigger than a PinkBag of Cotton Candy.

While you are there you can visit some of the 'Pinkies' listed under 'Pink Saturday Blogs'...they are soooo Fun, Creative, Talented, Sharing, and more.....just like Knitters and Crocheters.

PS...Please come back to SKW and Leave Your Comment...I promise not to get a Diaper Caddy sized head.

LaborDay..Or..LaborMoreOrLess Day?

Sometimes I get confused about Labor Day!
Is it a LaborLess Day or LaborMoreOrLess Day?
I know it's a day off from 'JobLabor', but what about 'HouseLabor' and
'SKW-StuffLabor'?

Oh, Yes, Mam'm! There is Quite-ALOT of StuffLabor going on...on LaborMoreOrLess Day!

It all Started the DayBeforeLaborDay with 'GetItOuttaHere' or at least 'GetItOrganized'!

So, OneBasketFull of Fabric Squares and LeftoverCrochet led to this....

Bagged and Tagged and ready to 'GetGone' to SKW's Antique Booth and into SOPS...SomeOtherPersonsStuff.

Of Course this 'LittleBit of Labor' is not all of it! There's more to come, but first here's what I learned about Labor Day...forgot what I learned in school.

The History of Labor Day...Started in Canada in the 1880's according to Wikepedia.

In the US in 1898, Labor Leader Samuel Gompers, gave new meaning to LaborDay when he urged "toilers" to lay down their tools and march shoulder to shoulder and "feel stronger for it."

2009 Labor Day truly is a LaborLess Day for many Americans out of a job. Learn more from 'For Too Many, Labor Day is No Cause To Celebrate'.

Back to SKW's LaborMoreOrLess Day...Outta the Mess came these three Crib/Toddler Quilt Kits.

Yes, KITS...not sewn together, but pre-cut and ready for SOP (SomeOtherPerson) to piece then quilt. You can see these Kits on SuKnitNQuilt my ETSY Shop. Until they sell...then your chance is gone, as they are one of a kind Kits.

While you're there, browse around SuKnitNQuilt for 1930's Reproduction Fabric....it's on SALE.
Also, you might be interested in some of the Vintage Crochet, Jewelry and Sewing Stuff.

More LaborDayLabor...Basket of Scrap Yardage and Stacks of Baskets of This N That N Whatever!

Good Grief CharlieBrown!

You are such an Accumlator! Sure should not call this a Collection...Then it would be WayTooHard to PartWith!
It's really kind of embarssing!

LaborInWaiting...for the rest of September my Labors will be All About OtherPeoples Quilts...Getting Them Quilted...That is!

Oh! One More...September 9, 2009...LaborDay for DaughterInLaw.

Knit&Crochet In 1934...Dear Sarah,

The Latest in Handmade SportsWear...and I do mean 'Latest', as in as late as 1934.

Sept. 4, 2009
Dear Mrs. W.R. Harris,
You don't know me, but we have a common interest that Knits and Crochets us together. You see, I found your 1934 copy of Handmade Sports Wear at Red Rooster Antiques in New Braunfels, Texas. I know it belonged to you as you wrote your name and address on the top left corner of the cover...1635 Pasadena St. P6567, City. I'm curious about P6567 and what City, but I'll let that be a mystery for now.

In 1934 you paid 10 cents for this Booklet published by 'The Spool Cotton Co.', and 75 years later I paid $2.00 for the same Booklet in well used and a bit tattered condition. You really used and made many of the items in this booklet, didn't you? Which one's were your favorites? Did you play golf and make the golfing gloves?

I play golf, and I thought you would like to know that 'LadyGolfers in 2009' still wear gloves for golfing...with a few differences since 1934. We now usually only wear One glove on the hand that grips the club, it is made of a soft leather, and is worn to protect ones hand from blisters and calluses. You see, Golf for Ladies, has come a long way in 75 years. However, I may still make the 'GolfGloves' on page 10, and wear them on my way to the golf course.

In looking over the pattern and thread requirements, I noticed you crocheted yours with J&P Coats Crochet Cord using a size 5 Milward Steel Hook. Well, believe it or not, J&P Coats are still in business today as one of the largest suppliers of the NeedleWorks and Crafts industry. You would be amazed at their website and the stores they supply with Clark's ONT Knitting & Crochet Threads, Yarns, Pattern Books, Sewing Threads and more.

And the colors we have now, both in Threads and Yarns, is 'MindBlogging'...(that's a phrase used in the BlogWorld)...never mind, it's kinda confusing even in 2009. Anyway, I noticed that none of the patterns in this booklet called for Yarn...even the sweaters are made with Thread. I found out why on J&P's Websites History.

Prior to 1935, Coat's and Clark sold a wide range of Cotton threads and handicraft products, but no wool yarns. An agreement was reached with Paton and Baldwins, a British manufacturer of knitting yarns, to make yarn in the United States to be marketed through the Spool Cotton Company.

So, Mrs. Harris...mind if I call you Sarah...I'm pretty sure the W.R. is your husbands initials...since in 1934 most women were addressed that way.

So, Sarah, I bet you were a thrilled knitter with the coming of Yarn. You see, I have 2 more of your Booklets from the 1940's. I'll tell you about them in our next letter writing post on SuKnitWitty.

Oh! perhaps I should bring you up to date on Letter Writing, Email, InterNet, US PostOffice and the price of stamps. On second thought, receiving this letter from the 21st century will probably be enough of a shock, and I think you and I will do fine with the Old Fashion Way of letter writing...I do miss the letters from my Grandmother Minnie.

PS...Sarah, I know my SKW readers are going to enjoy your Booklets, too. I'm sure they will let you know through their comments.
PPS...Dear SKW Readers, see more of Sarah's Booklets and ABit of SKW's CrochetCollection on CollectInTexas Gal.
