The Tricks and Treats for Knitting!

This is SuKnitWitty's Trick or Treat Bag!
It's the size of a large paper bag like the ones they use to sack your groceries in a the grocery store. It has handles and opens up to hold lots and lots of...

These goodies from the
Wool N Cotton Shop!

Have you ever wondered about the Halloween slogan 'Trick or Treat'? Is it a question or a statement? Why would anybody ask to be Tricked when they are obviously looking for a Treat? I really think the Halloween Slogan Gurus just got their T's backwards. 'Treat or Trick' works...or...'Treats or Treats' works even better. Whatever! I'm Treat-N-Myself to some Knittin Stuff like...

This is what I call a Treat! Although, it does have it's share of TRICKS...for knitting up some fabulous Christmas gifts. There's Hats, Scarves, Sweaters, Gloves, Mitts and Socks and Socks and Socks. Yep, there's the SSS again...SecondSockSyndrome.

The Knitting Wizzardess...SusanB-Knits...discovered these NiftyNeedles for knitting socks and gloves. So, I'm thinkin, two points outta be a whole lot better than 4-5 Double Pointed Needles which adds up to 8-10 points and a SockInProgress that looks like a Voodoo Thingy. So, if one HiyaHiya Circular Socker works, then Two HiyaHiya's just might be the cure for my SSS. Yep, I could knit the cuff on one, then knit the cuff on two, then back to one for the heel flap, then over to two for....get the picture? I'm pretty pumped about this Second Sock Solution. If it doesn't work out, I'm surely headed for SecondSockSyndrome ReHab and a drawer full of SingleSocks.

KnittingWorkout with Scarlet & SockWizzardess!

His and Her Nests. Do they exist at your house? They do at SuKnitWitty's, but not close enough together to play KnittingFootsie!
Speaking of Footsie Knitting...it's been six months since I took
Susan-B's Sock Knitting Class and
I'm now the epitome of Scarlet O'Hara's "I'll worry about that tomorrow".
Fore Gone With The Wind are my pretty purple sock...
yep, it's still one and it's still not done.

In the meantime the
SockWizzardess is on number
KaBillionth pair...
so that adds up to
TwoKaBillion Socks...
but whose counting!

I guess I'm In the 'Working Out To Knit Mode'!!!

I've worked up a Sweat lifting baskets of yarn
from one shelf and putting them on a higher shelf.
Re-arranged the Nest...moved the chair,
the ottoman, the side table the baskets then
moved them all back where they were.
Walked a couple of miles between
the studio and the nest
with a dozen WIP's and knitted a row or two...really fast.
Soon, I will be a
'Lean, Mean Knitting Machine'

I don't want anyone to think I've been 'Slackin On KnittinThinkin'.
I eat, sleep, dream and read Knitting!
That's part of the Workout Mode, and I get lots of help from outside sources like Judith at the Wool N Cotton Shop with the latest
'Special Issue of Interweave Knits'.
Knits you can do in a weekend....for me many long weekends.
But, I was sold on this issue as soon as I saw the little boy sweater on the cover.
OMGosh! There's my Grandson Jackson on the cover.
He was two weeks old today.
I'm going to make that sweater in Vanna's Baby Yarn in blue and yellow.
I may start it tomorrow, cast on for 18 mo - 2yrs., knit really fast and have it done by December...
2010.

Fall and BasketBall...Thankful...For!!!

Remember when your English Teacher assigned the Essay Writing Titled
"The Things I Am Most Thankful For"
(even Teachers in Texas ended in prepositions)
I know, I'm a little early for ThanksGiving, but the Texas Fall Weather seems to be upon us, and I'm soooooo...
#1. Thankful for the Hot Summer to be gone.

In my 'Thankful Essay' assigned by my Basketball Coach/English Teacher,
the weather would not have been at the top the list.
He would have had a 'hoot' at that.
More than likely my essay would have been a list
with proper spellin and grammar,
Things I Am Thankful For

1. My Mama and Daddy.....I suffered from 'FCS'....FirstChild Syndrome
2. Being Taller than my TeamMates....Not so good when it came to Boys.
3. My Basketball Coach..BrownNosin..altho, I did think he was the greatest.
4. My Best Friend Nancy...Standing next to me...She would pass me the ball
when #4 would not for Nothin. (See more of #4 and me in 1963....Here)
5. My Homemaking Teacher Mrs. Browning...She taught me to Crochet and Knit

And that brings us Full Circle from the 1960's to
2009 Things I Am Thankful For.
#2. I'm Thankful for my Friend and Knitting Teacher Susan-B
I'm learning so many neat Knitting Stitches and Techniques from her....like the Diamond Lacy Scarf I'm Test Knitting for her October Classes at the
Wool N Cotton Shop.
Susan has designed Five Scarf Patterns for the classes,
and fellow Wednesday Trio'er Gina is a Tester, too...
or should that be Tester two...nope,
I think, too is gramatically correct.
Did you notice the Two Beautiful Journals in the picture with my
WIP LaceScarf?
They are gifts from Susan, and I'm sure she is expecting some
KnitTestNotes to be recorded.
But I just can't bring myself to mess them up by writing in them with my
Texas Spellin and Grammar skills.
Maybe, I will pretend to be writing an Essay for Coach Moore.
That'll shape up the Spelling and Grammar.

PS...Susan, Here's my first entry in the Butterfly Journal.
Rowe 1: K1,P1,K1,P1,K5,P2,K2tog,K1,YO,K1,YO,K1,SKPO,P2,K5,Pl,K1,P1,K1.

PPS...Sue, Nice job on this writing. Grammar=A+, Spelling=B+...
you mis-spelled ROWE.
In this context it is ROW. Coach Moore

Alot AboutHats...ABit About Julia

Ahhh, Julia!!! You've Come A Long Way Lady! From Milliner to French Chef to Actress.
And now to SKW NewWordList...'Hat~Tress'.

Bonjour Ya'll...I've been brushing up on my French since seeing Julie and Julia. Somehow, the Texas accent keeps slippin in there, so keep in mind that GirlsRaisedInTexas CanSpeak French...with a TexasTwist.
We do love a 'Soriree', that's French for 'HatParty'...

The WednesdayKnitTrio of Julias 'Sorireed' right on over to the Wool N Cotton Shop with the best intentions of Knitting away the rest of Wednesday afternoon.

Which we did...for about five minutes.
It was the big 'HatDistraction'!

Shop 'Hat~Tress' and owner of SKW's WhitePetalPompadour (that's French forBigHairHat), Judith Lester joined the Soriree.

Pronounced...SworeA...TexasTalk

One thing that Judith and Julia have in common is Hand-Made Hats!
'Oui Oui', Judith has a collection of hats made by

'Katie, TheHatLady', from Whitefish, Montana.
These beautiful reproductions of vintage hats each have a story to tell and are embellished with vintage trims.

1926 Silk Cloche 'Field&Stream'

Judith models another Silk Cloche with the back shown in the VintagePinkVanity mirror.
'Tea In Lilac Park' and 'A Very Good Year' are featured on the vanity.
